It looked like it was made of coal black cobblestone and it stood taller than any of the other buildings, aside from the castle in the distance.“I’ve been told it’s a library. Those in the outcast camp who have to make deliveries pass it everyday. They told us that the guards don’t let anyone into the building because the books are filled with lies. That’s why king Eric made it off limits.”
“ Interesting, if the tombs in that library were truly lies, then why do they still keep such lies in that library? Why don’t they burn all the books?” Mitchiko questioned, she watched the banners on either side of the great big stained glass windows sway in the wind. Most of the windows looked old and what they depicted was faded and difficult to see.
“ I’m not sure. I don’t really pay attention to people’s motives any more, but if you’re looking for old information that others don’t want you to find, that would be the place to go. How do you suppose we’d get in?” Keysha talked as she tried to gauge how her balance had changed in this new disguise.“ We? You wish to help me?” Michiko was not sure what Keysha had planned or if she should put trust in this strange gazelle. Then again, she had not reported Michiko since she revealed she was a magic user, so maybe this gazelle was one to have faith in.
“ Uh, well you haven’t scorned me for not being the true race and you even used magic so I wouldn’t get in trouble for being outside the camp, so I figured just this one time I’d put my trust in a stranger.” Keysha smiled widely and then looked towards the plaza. Those words made Michiko eat her previous thoughts. How could someone this kind and adorable be evil? She had no one else who she could trust, at least not yet, so maybe she would let her guard down just this once.
“ I don’t know how we would get in, but I’m sure some of the locals do. Let’s not ask about the library, that would get us in trouble. But if we simply asked where to get the best information, then maybe we can get the answers we are looking for.” She brushed her hair behind her ear as she looked in the direction that Keysha was looking.
The two of them exchanged glances and then stepped out into the street, they headed towards the massive statue in the middle of the plaza.“ Who do you think that is?” Keysha whispered and pointed to the statue. “ Someone who probably should not be believed in. Not if they are ok with the state of this world.” Mitchiko stated solemnly.
