I lived in Barremian stage of the Early Cretaceous period. If you ask me what that means, I won’t be able to explain it to you, but roughly it means that I lived about 130-125 million years ago. My first skelton was discovered in 1983 in the Weald Clay Formation of Surrey, England, and became the holotyp specimen of Baryonyx walkeri. I was named by palaeontologists Alan J. Charig and Angela C. Milner in 1986. This is my story and what was my life. Oh, and please call me Barry, all my friends do.
In my youth I was a little tyke standing roughly 25 to 30 feet from head to end of tail. As an adult, I’m not certain how big I might have been. That said, everyone always called me heavy claw back then because of one of my first claws, which measured around 12 inches. I prefer Barry. Anyway, I was no herbivore, meat was the ticket of the day and I really enjoyed it. My serrated teeth told that tale. Not to mention, the idea of eating only plants was something that would make my stomach turn, and not in a good way.
